"Touch"
05.jpg

The Museum of Contemporary Art Vojvodina in Novi Sad

What we remember in the end are only the moments of touch – physical and spiritual – with another human being (the rest is but the scenography of a lifetime). Each one is a flash, a detail 'incised' in one's memory. Together, they create an unseizable space of inner life, a map of the soul's routes. Each frame represents a moment immediately preceding/succeeding the touch – a tense movement towards or away from the moment that condenses the total power of life. Hands/palmprints testify to our uniqueness. They are symbols of the tactile, the flesh, as well as of the spiritual. They are enframed like squares of a comic strip. Every touch is a story. A look at the gallery reveals a map of the wire squares, their movement through the space. Having once approached any one of them, it is the intimacy of the gesture that takes the viewer into the little space inside the frame: what looked like a sketch, a drawing in space, now reveals layers, details and emotions.

steel wire, 3mm in diameter, welded; dimensions of the smallest sculpture are 13,4 x 11,8 x 3,4 cm and biggest 100,9 x 66,3 x 3 cm
