"Never Say "Whoopee" Before You Jump"
01STA-desno.jpg

'Never Say “Whoopee” Before You Jump' was made in 2003. When I received an invitation to participate in The Museum of Modern Fine Arts project ‘Investigation’, I was called on to contribute something that would be shown outdoors. I found it interesting to make something that would be fully experienced only if the observer walked by it. That condition would justify placing the work out in the street. This series of drawings in polyester was designed as a comic strip consisting of four frames. These frames were placed in the four distant locations in the streets of central Novi Sad.  Next to every drawing there was a map of the town's centre showing all the remaining locations of the artwork, so those who wanted to see the whole story had to ‘investigate’ the town. Each drawing changes, like a hologram does, when the viewer moves from one of its ends to another.
The dimensions of each of the four drawings are 75cm x 120 cm, the materials are paper, ink, polyester and aluminum bars.

The dialog in the comic strip balloons:

What? - What?
